Maybern have successfully undertaken a project alongside the Davies family at Bank Top Farm, Littleborough for the development of a farm shop and café. The development in question required a full planning application for the erection of a single story farm shop building with cafe, access, parking, and landscaping and other associated works.
This scheme faced a number of technical constraints throughout the planning process, mainly surrounding the Greenbelt nature of the land. We were able to prove to Rochdale Borough Council that the positives of the development on the Greenbelt site would drastically outweigh the negatives. We argued that whilst development would lead to the loss of greenbelt, the scheme would retain a high-quality landscape which respects the surrounding setting. This subsequently assured the delivery of facilities required by the applicant to support their farm and meat business.
